Address Book and Adium.app September 30, 2009

I had a problem today when trying to use Address Book on my mac, in that.. it wouldn’t work. It would not allow me to use or access any part of the program until I had located Adium.app . Turns out that a few other people have had this problem, after uninstalling Adium from their macs. So here’s the fix:
1. Put ‘Adium’ into spotlight
2. Delete the folder ‘Adium’ that spotlight should find. There are some Adium icons and other jazz that can be deleted too.
3. It now works!
For some reason the Apple discussions on this don’t have the fix – some recommend repairing permissions, which will have no effect at all (I suspect).

So I’ve been trying to learn the dark art of shredding this summer. I found a great instructional book (well… comic book!) that has some pretty good lessons in it, plus it has a storyline!

I’ve been using this in conjunction with a Guitar Techniques magazine I had lying around, and coupled with an hour of metronome practice a day, my playing is really coming on!
I recently ordered a DVD by The Great Kat for… inspiration… not very tuneful, but hell, that woman can shred.
On the physics side of things, I’ve just finished reading up on chromatic and monochromatic extinction in the atmosphere (the reduction of intensity of a source in the sky due to absorption in the atmosphere). I think that’s going to prove a nightmare to properly compensate for!
