So today was my physics practical.

For my Physics A-level we do some experiments under exam conditions (for those who arent familiar with the system).

Went ok, panicked half way through when I realised Id fucked up my graph. Quickly fixed it =)

We all cruised (check that gangsta shit yo), grabbed some food and bacardi for the next lesson. Emptied the bacardi into the coke and we all had some =) Even the teacher had a cup full !!!

Good times.

This is one of my favourite linux tools. It is used within terminal.

You use it to download files from the internet, its a terminal based download manager. Means you dont have to waste processor power on keeping firefox running, and is also more stable than firefox (firefox has crashed on my linux :0 ). To use it, type:

wget http://myfilethatireallywanttodownload

except, replace the http://blahdeblah with the location of your file.

wget saves the file to the directory you are already in. Nice and easy to use !

As with all terminal commands, use:

man wget

to learn more about it.

I am using this on Fedora Core 4, so Im not sure if it will work with other distributions or not.

Seeming as I have nothing too interesting to blog about, (I had a great idea yesterday but forgot it :( ), Illblog the weekend so far :)

Yesterday was spent revising (or attempting to) in the morning, followed by a session trying to get samba running just after lunch, and then football. One of my friend's from uxbrige high came up to play footie too, which was cool as I havent seen him for a while. My team was thrashed both times, but was fun. I now have a very sore leg, when SOMEONE kneed me in my calf ! Ouch!

In the evening a family friend came round and we all watched Dr Who (the acting in this is terrible, not to mention the physics) and had a chinese, at which the family friend promptly hijacked the diet coke =p

Then we all watched Eurovision and Lordi won !!! WOOO! They had the best performance by far. I thought England's entry was a lot better than last time, although out strong point seemed to be the short skirts. No complaints here…..

Er, a bit overdue, but its here =)

Started off with a nice lie in, so I had a good start to the day. Was at Baker street ( I think that was the right road, cant remember :$) and we, they were 27 of us, were all picked up by a coach that took us to TVC.

On arrival at the BBC we went to the Top of the Pops bar. Everyone was milling around and chatting. I felt a little intimidated by the calibre of everyone there. I was the youngest person there, but did talk to a few people who were really interesting. There was a real mixture of people there, writers, people doing start ups, a futures trader and even my next door neighbour! From talking to people, no-one really seemed to know what we were doing – just talking to some media people…..

Then we went in and talked to the media people. It was meant to be one of us to a table of 8 – half of my table had buggered off. One guy sat there playing GTA (I assume this…he was doing something on his laptop, and it had a gangsta’ sticker on the back). The BBC woman one the table, who was trying to keep the conversation going, did quite well….but the media people just didn’t seem interested. One woman even *tschsed* when I was talking about bit torrent. One of them didn’t have a clue what torrents were :O

The American on my table was cool, and at least listened to me, he and one other guy eventually decided to make the most of it and we had some conversation going.

After that, I headed off to find some chocolate brownies (perk of the job =p) and orange juice. Ben came over and had a quick chat (thanks for looking out for me!), and I had a look at some of the displays that were there. One of them was pretty cool – it was an American university, and they had created a 3D image of it, and overlaid information from security cameras. So you could see people walking around, and could also look at them from different angles! Was a pretty neat bit of software.

Also, a quick chat to some of the other digital assasins (that was out offical title) showed that they had similar experiences to me. The media peeps just didnt seem interested. One person even described them as boring fucks! Viva le revolution!

After talking to a few more people I headed off home.

All in all a good day and I enjoyed the experience. Good CV material too =)

The weekend May 8, 2006

This weekend was better than most ! Spent friday night tinkering with the 560 – dismantled it and took out the hard drive, then used my adapter to plug it into my linux desktop. Display doesnt work and it wont boot after I changed the BIOS :S

Saturday was spent revising…partially, went to a mates for a little drink, met some new people which is always fun! If getting there wasnt enough, gettting back was a mission. Firstly I struggled to find the tube station, eventually did, got on the district line to Earls Court, where I missed the last Picadilly, so I got back on the Distric to Acton and got a N207 to uxbridge. This took 3 hours, and I got home at 3 am.

Sunday night went to a mates 18th, eventually. He thought he was at the General Elliot when he was at teh Swan and Bottle. Fool! Was fun and met more new people !

So all in all a good weekend. My limbs are still stiff from the partying, but was fun !

Was at band practice today, we played all our songs through perfectly…..woo !

So after that everyone was sitting around….not doing much. Keyboardist turned red at one stage, what a joker.

I got bored so started twiddling knobs on my amp like I knew what I was doing. I usually have quite a bass intensive EQ setting…so I tried changing it to amore treble setting. Was expecting it to sound tinny, like it did on my old amp……but it sounded totally awesome !  Was only good for solos though…..riffs still need hte bass cranked =)

Oh yeah, Im too cool for school:

I am 7% loser. What about you? Click here to find out!
